Interview with Costa Rica and FC Indiana forward Melissa Herrera

“They can expect a total commitment and dedication from me. I go to Indiana to give my all and give my best.” Melissa Herrera, Costa Rica & FC Indiana
fcindiana.org: Meli, with your upcoming move to United States to FC Indiana, what do you want to achieve with your new club and personally?
MH: I want to help FC Indiana to win WPSL and to continue my development in a new environment with many international players.
fcindiana.org: Was it a difficult decision to leave AD Moravia after you joined them in January?
MH: Yes it was. I after my move from Saprissa I was ready to do my best for AD Moravia but when this opportunity was presented to me I had to really think about it at first. I asked Mr. Bernal Castillo for his advice and he told me that in order to grow as a player it will be very good for me to play in a new environment in the best country in the world as far as women’s football goes.
fcindiana.org: What do you know about your new club and the Women's Premier Soccer League?
MH: I know that FC Indiana has helped develop 13 World Cup and 12 Olympic players, and that it is one of the best in the WPSL.
fcindiana.org: FC Indiana has players from Scotland, England, Haiti, Austria, Puerto Rico, USA, do you expect it to be difficult adopting to so many different teammates?
MH: I think it maybe difficult in the beginning but we all speak football so I don’t see any problems long term.
fcindiana.org: What can FC Indiana fans expect from you this season?
MH: They can expect a total commitment and dedication from me. I go to Indiana to give my all and give my best.
fcindiana.org: What are your strengths as a player?
MH: I work hard for 90 minutes, I like to attack opponents and I have a good shot.
fcindiana.org: How is your English?
MH: Its improving.
