The Tunbridge Wells mens team beat St John's 8-1 on Monday which means next weeks match against AIT will be the title decider.
The team knew that there was no room for error against St John's as a loss would put them out of contention for promotion. The team were also hampered slightly by having to play the match in the unfamiliar surroundings of Ardingly College.
The match started with David Eves & Steve Parkinson winning the award for the longest set of the season, loosing the second end of their opening match 28-30!. They had however won the first end comparitively easily (22-20!!) but unfortunately they lost the third end 21-17.
This proved to be the only loss of the evening though as Martin Flint & Zeyar Win and Jason Metcalf & Stephen Gillbard took all 3 of their rubbers.
The win sets up next weeks match against AIT nicely as the winner will almost certainly guarentee promotion for themselves as both teams have only lost a single match each all season. No pressure for either team then!!
