Barring an upset against the bottom placed team Sevenoaks in their last match of the season, Felbridge sealed their promotion to the premier division with a clinical 8-1 away win over their nearest challengers AIT B.
Heading into the match, both teams were tied at the top of the division, both having only lost a single match all season. Victory for either would seal promotion. Felbridge were without 2 of their players, so Steve Parkinson and Stuart Hawke stood in, partnering David Eves and Zeyar Win respectively.
It was Felbridge who managed to settle any nerves early on by taking the opening 3 rubbers. All went to the third end, but in each case the third end was won relatively easily. In fact by the end of the next 3 rubbers, Felbridge had the tie won as they took 2 of the next 3, with Jason Metcalf and Stephen Gillbard taking the match winning rubber. David & Steve dropped the only match, although they very nearly took that rubber to the third end, fighting back in the second set only to loose it 22-20.
With the win sealed, Felbridghe took their mind off the job for a short while and found themselves having to fight back to win the final set of matches, but fight back they did and they all went Felbridge's way as well. Again they all went to the third end but the teams resolve to come away with a resounding victory saw them through.
The final match isn't until the end of April, however, having won the home match 9-0 over Sevenoaks, it would take an upset of the proportions of Wimbledon beating Liverpool in the 1988 FA Cup final for the team not to be promoted!!
