Sharks win in the shadow of murrayfield

Warm ups were led by Kristofer Richards and Craig Paterson taking forwards and backs respectively with a view of the iconic Murrayfield statium. The match will be played on an artificial 4G surface. Conditions on the day are pretty good for the game sun is shining with a slight breeze.

Aggression is the theme of Bryan Aspinall's pre match talk with the pack. Sharks look ready for a hard physical game against the Caledonian Thebans today.

Kick off at 1330. Sharks win the toss and choose to receive the kick. The game will be played over 2 conventional halves as opposed to quarters, a proposition put forward by the Thebans.

Kick off taken down by Michael O'Rourke a few phases pass before opt to kick for touch. A promising break by Sean Cessford is hampered good defense on the try line. The Thebans kick away only as far as their own 22.

TRY Alex Craig off of Liam Ward's blistering pace. Debut try within 2 minutes for Alex Craig. 5-0

Conversion missed by Connor Edwards missing the right post by not much. Enough to act as a rangefinder?

Sharks receive the kick off on their 10 metre line and kick for touch gaining a line out on halfway. A few promising phases land Sharks in the opposition 22.

TRY Bryan Aspinall. The result of a good run of play lands the sharks 10-0 up thanks to forward crash balls.

CONVERSION Connor Edwards strikes a simple kick on the middle of the 22. 12-0

Sharks take kick off and receive a line out on the opposition 10 which they narrowly win. Thebans drive pushes sharks well in to their own 22.

Scrum just off the Sharks 22 Thebans put in.

High tackles are a criticism thus far.

Stuart Doidge with a break away and kick to move the play upto just short of Thebans 22.

Scrum sharks put in shy of the bans 22

TRY Liam Ward from the back of the scrum running through the defense to score under the posts. 17-0

CONVERSION Connor Edwards in an almost carbon copy of his last kick Edwards slots the ball comfortably between the posts. 19-0

Bans are able to catch their own kickoff only able to hold as far as an earth shattering hit by Stuart Doidge to turn over possession. Hands are played to Alex Craig making a significant gain landing Sharks with a Scrum on the bans 5 metre line.

TRY Jason Hunkin from the back of the scrum leaving a comfortable dive in. 24-0

Scrum awarded on the Sharks 10 Thebans put in and win.

Sharks are unfortunate as a forward pass hampers a promising drive by Jason Hunkin and Callum Hawthorne.

TRY Connor Edwards pins his ears back and burns the bans for pace from Sharks 10. 29-0

Conversion Connor Edwards. Straight in front of the posts result in an easy 2 points for the sharks. 31-0

The first half hour has been all sharks.

Thebans are able to put some play together ending them in sharks 22.

Bad handling by the bans hand the ball back to sharks with a few phases play ends up on the bans 10 thanks to a good run by Stuart Doidge.

Bans are able to put some pressure on just before half time leaving the sharks defending their own line.

An exciting breakaway play from Rosyth is stopped on Bans 22 to hopefully kick start a resurgence by the Sharks.

A promising yet unlikely break by Andy Dick and Ben Morris is stopped just shy of the try line heartbreak for the ever surprising forward duo.

Sharks on the line due to Kris Richards and Andy Dick. Andy is absolutely gagging for a bit of the old meat pie today, a good trait to show.

Sharks make a lot of ground thanks to the dynamic pair of Liam Ward and Connor Edwards. Play on the 5 is there time.

Given the 60 point target given by Coach Kristofer Richards the Sharks can be very proud of this result in the shadow of Murrayfield Stadium. If this is an indicator of the season to come we are in for a great ride.
