Finches let the lead slip
Finches Disappointed with a draw
Finches Match Report
Finches travelled to Streetly for their first game of the season which included George Jandu & Jack Gibson making their 1st team league debuts.
Finches had a great start to the 1st half with Ian Bradley scoring Finches 1st goal within the 1st minute and after some great play from Rich Saunders and Ian Bradley, Chris Jones broke through the Streetly defence on 6 minutes to score Finches 2nd. The pace of the Finchfield team were giving Streetly a lot to think about especially when our forwards broke through the streetly defence again with some great play from Chris Jones who then slipped the ball to Rich Saunders who had an easy tap in to make it 3-0 with only 11 minutes been played. Streetly had a player green carded at 19 minutes and shortly after Dyson got a green card with 24 minutes played. Throughout the first half Streetly kept trying to break through our defensive line up of Stocko, Dyson and Dan Birch who kept them from scoring for most of it but sadly Streetly finally broke through and scored a goal from free play on 32 minutes. All in all Finches had a great first half with a score of 1-3.
Finches didn’t have the best of starts to the second half with Streetly breaking through the Finches defence and scoring another goal on 37 minutes to make it 2-3. Finches kept fighting on by scoring a 4th goal from Ian Bradly on 40 minutes but Streetly also kept finding their way through the Finches defence which earned them a penalty corner on which they converted on 43 minutes to make it 3-4. Martin Boyle was judged to have made an illegal tackle on a Streetly player which earned him a yellow card on 44 minutes to put Finches down to 10 men. Ian Bradley made up for it though by scoring his 3rd goal of the game to make the score 3-5 with a time of 46 minutes. Streetly kept fighting and scored another goal on 49 minutes to make it 4-5, they never gave up and were able to score another past Finches on 55 minutes to make the scores all even at 5 all. Finches had an advantage after another Streetly player got yellow carded on 57 minutes. Finches never stopped giving up to try and score another and on 67 minutes Finches won a penalty corner which Chris Jones drag flicked home to take the score 5-6. Unfortunately Finches tried to do too much with the ball and we conceded another goal on 69 minutes to take the score to 6 all.
Final score: Streetly 6 - Finches 6.
Man of The Match was Ian Bradley.
