Finchley win in grand style
Coaches Andy and Warwick help the squad, close in on their potential and play as a team.
Finchley won well today, due in no small part to the work of Warwick and Andy, the U15 forwards and backs coaches. The forwards led the way through Teddy who has moved from prop to flanker this year and the additional space available helped him go over for a hat-trick of ties with a great show of powerful running from the base of rucks and mauls. 2nd row Ronan also got on the scoreboard as the pack working brilliantly as a unit pushed him across the line.
The forwards dominated the line out and it was great to see several balls taken high by open side flanker Kit and flipped straight out to the back line to allow them to attack through their powerful centers and quick wingers.
The forwards also dominated the scrums and credit must go to Guiseppe, Jamarley and Bart who started in the front row for the 2nd consecutive game who took several balls against the head. Finchley's 2nd row has always been strong and this year Owen, Ronan and Sam have shown strength and power to keep scrums, Mauls and rucks going forward.
The starting back line has been the same for every game this season and its good to see the center paring of Kai and Vincent staring to work well together allowing both to score tries. It was also good to see Devonte who is in his first season of club rugby get the ball in space and go over for two tries.
Old Albanian's were a good team and never gave up. They showed great determination and in defense and Tom Linden at fly half had to show speed and skill to continually evade the defensive line and get the ball moving with either well times passing or some good tactical kicking.
Finchley's own defense was excellent and Bonner, Seb, Marcus, and Joe who all covered in various back positions were resolute in defense and all tackled well.
Congratulations to Man of the Match Teddy for his three try haul.
This week we were very please to see Rafi make his debut for the team and we look forward to seeing much more of him in Finchley colors.
There is still much to work on, we still need to run straighter and the ball needs to get out of rucks and mauls quicker to give Tom at fly-half time to use the ball better. We still lose the ball too often in contact and we still don't consistently tackle low enough. These things can and will be worked on in training and should not deflect too much from a good victory.
So well done everyone, a great team effort played by a squad that is far happier this year and that is supportive of each player.
