The Biff Memorial Cup game
The Biff Memorial Cup game started at a great pace and was a great game to watch throughout. The game started well for Finchley with the ball moving out to the right wing for Kofi to round one player and break two tackles to score in the first 5 minutes. Kanturk woke up after that and both teams built and defended good attacks. Kanturk got a penalty after players failed to release at the ruck and they got the feet and got kick. Finchley came back again, Niall spreading the ball well and after a series of moves the ball went to the left with Nico, Will and Jack G breaking before the ball came inside to Padraig running a great line to score to the right of the posts, which Inigo converted. 12-3 at half time.
The second half continued as the first. Kanturk attacked again and scored a penalty soon after the restart. There game started to pick up now and they started using their backs through their impressive 13. Moving the ball wide and kicking well they broke through to score to the left of the posts (12-13) and get the conversion. Another penalty extended their lead to 12-16, but then Eli picked up the ball from the back of the ruck of broke down the wing (dragging a couple of players behind him to score in the corner (17-16). This time Kanturk's forward came back and drove to the line, Finchley defended well, holding up the attackers twice before they eventually scored right on the line (17-21). Then in the last five minutes the Kanturk backs attacked over the half way line and passed it to the 13 who ran a great line and stepped his way over. Final score 17-28, but with the U15s winning well the aggregate score meant Finchley retain the Biff trophy.
