This article is aimed to give you a little background to the club and information on how to make the most of your time with the club.

Finsbury Park Rugby Club is North London’s fastest growing community rugby club. This page is intended to provide new members with a bit of information and how to make the most of their time with the club.

We currently field 2 teams. In 2018/19 the 1st XV will be playing Herts/Middlesex Division 1 and the 2nd XV will be playing in Herts/Middlesex Merit table 4.

Social
At Finsbury Park Rugby Club we pride ourselves on being a community club with an ethos of community involvement. You will quickly find that club members are at hand for an after work beer in and around Finsbury Park – usually arranged through the club’s WhatsApp group.

Finsbury Park Rugby Club’s associated pub is The Faltering Fullback. 19 Perth Rd, Finsbury Park, London N4 3HB. Most of the club’s pub visits will be to the Fullback.

The social secretary is Ali Walters. He will be arranging club socials throughout the year. These are not limited to purely drinking occasions.

Club communications
These go out through our Facebook page, private Facebook group, and WhatsApp group. Talk to Nick Tewson (07845 819 625) to be added to the FB/WhA groups.

All basic information and significant information can be found on our pitchero site

Training
Training is free to attend.

Pre-season training will begin at Highbury Fields on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7pm.
From the 31st of July onwards training will move to our pitch at Downhills Park, N17 6PE on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7pm.

To assist in the organisation of training please mark your attendance at training through Pitchero. See the ‘membership’ section below for more information on how to do this.

Games
Games are played on a Saturday. Home games are played at Downhills Park. Selected teams will be announced on the Pitchero website on the Thursday/Friday before the game.
Match fees are £10 for a home game and £5 for an away game. These can be paid by cash or card to the team captain after the game.
Teams are selected by the coach, Gaz Chapman. Selection is based on a number of factors including (but not limited to) match day performance, training performance, and training attendance.

Teams are selected from the pool of players who have made themselves available on Pitchero. It is therefore important to set your availability for games on the Pitchero website. See the membership section below for information on how to do this.

The team captains and fixtures secretary (Fred Bromley) are responsible for providing match day jerseys. Players are responsible for all other playing kit they require.

Post-game socials will be at the faltering fullback. Club members are expected to wear shirts and ties post-game (ties are available through the club Chair, Stephen Morse).
