Flackwell Heath 4 Binfield 1
The Heathens moved clear at the top of the Hellenic Premier Division with a 4-1 win against second placed Binfield on Tuesday evening, taking their tally to 16 goals in three games.
This game was marred by a serious injury to Binfield’s James Partridge in the 11th minute when he turned awkwardly fell to the ground in obvious distress.
We later learned that he had suffered a broken leg just below the knee and a dislocated knee. Everyone at Flackwell Heath wishes James a speedy recovery.
The game was delayed for 40 minutes while an ambulance attended and within two minutes of the re-start Flackwell took the lead when Harry Pritchard combined with Danny Jordan down the left wing and Pritchard’s cross was deflected off the head of Gary Callaway and beyond the reach of Weait for Flackwell's first goal.
Most of the pressure was on the Binfield goal, though the visitors did create a couple of half-chances. LEE THOMPSON missed a couple of gilt edged chances and Weait saved well from Pritchard and Jordan but the second goal was almost inevitable. It came in the 36th minute when ADAM HARMAN picked up the loose ball after Weait had saved from LEE THOMPSON and the midfielder drilled his shot through a crowd of players into the bottom corner of the net.
Binfield came out for the second half with more purpose and Danny Wing was giving real cause for concern for the Heathens defenders. Superbly marshalled by Dean Harper and Mark Weedon, Flackwell were able to snuff out any threat on goal but just when it seemed that Flackwell had weathered the storm Heathen's keeper Sam Southerden gave Binfield a lifeline when he inexplicably struck out at Ian Davies, who was jostling him while he had the ball in his hands. The referee awarded Binfield a penalty and the home crowd held their collective breath as the referee reached into his pocket and produced - A YELLOW CARD - phew!!
Carl Davies sent Sam the wrong way and it was game on again With the Moles piling on the pressure and Flackwell counter-attacking with great speed the next goal was going to be the effective match winner.
After LEE THOMPSON had squandered a couple of one on one chances he was replaced by Riccardo Cannon (72). The appearance of the Flackwell talisman must have given no comfort whatsoever to the Binfield defenders and within three minutes of his arrival he got himself in behind and slotted the ball under Weait to seal the win for the home side.
Carl Davies was given a second yellow card for an altercation with Southerden and Binfield’s miserable night was completed when Harry Pritchard burst into the area and smashed the ball home to make it 4-1 on 88 minutes.
