The best way to keep up to date with Fleetwood RUFC

O2 Touch rugby here at Fleetwood Rugby Club

1 year ago By Gavin Butterworth

Welcome to the North West's newest O2 Touch rugby centre...

O2 Touch rugby is a great new way to improve your fitness and have fun whether you're a guy or girl, 18 or 80, a beginner or seasoned player.

Touch Rugby or Touch, as it is known, is a minimal contact sport that is played worldwide by men, women and children of all ages. The game emphasizes running, agility and ball handling skills such as passing and catching, all within a safe, fun environment.

Looking something similar to Rugby, without the tackling, scrumming, kicking and physical contact, the aim of the game is to score tries.

Played on a flat surface, half the size of a conventional sports field, Touch rugby is one of the fastest growing new team sports in England and has high profile backing from both the RFU and O2. It is also a fantastic way to raise the profile of the club and appeal to a wider audience.

It is a completely all inclusive game for anyone aged 16 or above who is able to carry a rugby ball (regardless of whether they have played any rugby before or not) and it is a brilliant way to keep fit, make new friends and have fun.

As part of our launch as one of the North West's newest O2 Touch rugby centres, we are running a series of have-a-go sessions on each Wednesday starting @ 7:00pm at Fleetwood Rugby Club (free parking and changing facilities), and continuing each Sunday @ 12:30pm.

We would be delighted to invite you, your friends, your family and colleagues to come down and have a go and support the club while keeping fit - the sessions are completely free of charge and will be conducted by RFU qualified and DBS cleared coaches.
