After a tough test in the first week of the season last week against a strong Aspatria outfit Fleet will be looking to gain the first points of the season at home to newcomers to the league this year Wigton.

In spells last week Fleet showed some real promise and will look to continue this against Wigton. The pack will again look to dominate the scrum which will be led by Jamie Moran, Danny Atkin and Scott ‘I talk a good game’ Dobbie, who rarely took a step backwards against Aspatria. Veteran Rob Brookfield will be partnered by Ricky Newton in the row.

The back row see’s Scott Richardson and Danny Tomlinson on the flanks. Tomlinson is back and raring to go this week and will be replacing the unfortunate Asa ‘Mobility Scooter’ Watson (who was injured in last week’s game). Dale ‘Moobs’ Thompson will this week take up the number 8 position and look to control the scrum from the outset.

The pack will be hoping to secure ball to allow Player Coach Paul Bamber and his backs the opportunity to run the ball on the Melbourne Road pitch. The improving Karl Bowling will again be running at Scrum half supported by Paul Bamber at Fly half. The impressive and exciting partnership of Zac Coultas and Ali Cheal at Centre will both be looking for holes in the opposition defence to exploit or finding the strong running Tom Evans at full back. On the wings the returning Jack Crompton and Craig Cowley will look to use their pace out wide.

This week see’s Mark Perkin returning to 1st team action, supported by James ‘Cowhead’ Lilley and Pete Benney, who between them will all look to make an impact from the bench when called upon.

*The annual try scoring competition between Rob Brookfield and Dale Thompson continues this year, with the loser facing the consequences. Current status for this year remains at 0-0.
