A cold and windy morning on King Georges was the venue for Fleetwood under 13’s cup tie v Bolton

Holidays meant the Fleetwood Squad was down to 11 players but despite the absentees the Fleetwood lads put in a gutsy performance. Bolton kindly loaned players to allow the homeside to make-up the team.

Fleetwood’s defence stood firm for the first 10 minutes, possession was limited but the home backs showed some good passing spreading the ball across the line to wingers Laycock and Hunter. Pressure told and Bolton passed the ball down the line well running in some good tries to leave the score at 5 – 0 at half time. The half time score did not reflect the fact the Fleetwood backs ran fast and strong and the pack made some strong drives.

The lads were not down hearted and played some good running rugby in the second half. The pack wok hard with Harry Jordan putting in a big shift and was well supported by Dino Federa, Isaac Wiggans and strong rucking from George Millar. The half backs linked up well with Max Boyd and Robert Bradder linking well and feeding some strong running from Ollie Sealy, Corrie Davies and Ben Hunter punching holes in the Bolton defence.

Fleetwood got their reward with a great individual try from Ollie Sealy running from deep and outpacing the Bolton defence to get across the Line. Max Boyd ran in 2 great late tries showing great pace to cross twice in the last 5 minutes making honours even in the second half and leaving the final score as Fleetwood 15 – Bolton 40.

Overall the lads put in a great effort and in difficult conditions again showed great signs of improvement, organised their defensive line well and ran strong and hard showing great team spirit.
