The North West Men's League Lionhearts continued their preparation for this summer's tour to Canada with an intense training boot camp at Heaven v Hell Fitness this week.

Chris Smith's squad were put through their paces in an hour long session at the brand new facility in Pemberton, Wigan by personal trainer and co-owner Gary Sykes.

Heaven v Hell Fitness have also agreed to become a sponsor of the week-long tour which concludes with a showdown against the Canadian national team at Lamport Stadium.

Sykes said: "It was great to welcome the Lionhearts into the gym to kickstart our involvement in their tour of Canada.

"Hopefully it was a little different for the lads but they put in 100% and I was pleased with their hard work.

"We've only been open a week and the Lionhearts are the first team to visit the gym but hopefully there'll be many more in the coming weeks.

"We've had a phenomenal response with 60 members sign up for the weights section and around 70 people through the door for the classes.

"Fitness is of massive importance to all levels of Rugby League and what we do is related to that as well as people who want to get fitter or lose weight.

"We're hoping to get St Judes, St Pats and Haydock through the doors in the coming weeks and the ultimate aim is to get a Super League side down in the near future."
