The Footscray Rugby Club family extend deepest condolences to Frank’s family, with the news that Frank tragically passed away this week.
Frank ‘The Tank’ was a much loved member of our club, and he will be greatly missed.
Frank Wallen, who has died aged 57, was the premises manager for Footscray Rugby Sports and Social Club, where he had worked for two years.
Franks rugby involvement has spanned many decades starting at Dartfordians, MOD and Civil Service. On retiring from playing rugby, he coached Footscray Rugby Club for 2 years.
Apart from rugby, Frank had a keen interest in other sports. He was a Black Belt at judo and represented Great Britain as a junior amateur wrestler. Following this involvement, he became a professional wrestler under the pseudonym of Dave “The Lion” Bond , Dave “Soulman” Bond, and finally Dave “Butcher” Bond. He was also part of the tag team with Johnny Kinkaid.
Frank enjoyed a cigar and in his earlier years, smoked a pipe. Due to his public recognition as a wrestler, he was named National pipe-smoker of the year. Frank was also a keen student and gained a masters degree in Business Management. He was also learning to play the piano.
Frank is survived by his wife Loretta, three sons, Benjamin, Gareth and Thomas, stepson Rayan and daughter Jodean..

Sad to hear this news, was speaking to him just before Christmas, and he was his normal cheerful self.
