Date: Friday 24th February 2012
Time: 20:00
The club are planning to set what might well become a Guinness World record over the Six Nations weekend of Feb 24-26 with a non-stop fund-raising charity event in the clubhouse aimed at setting the longest distance to be run in 48 hours.

All are invited to take part in slots of 15 minutes, with each runner raising their own sponsorship and proceeds being split 50/50 between the Macmillan Cancer Trust and the Tony O’Connell Founders Fund.
Two running machines will be available and the action will be non-stop starting at 8pm on the Friday evening and running (literally!!) through to 8pm on the Sunday evening.
All the Six Nations games will be on the BBC – Ireland v. Italy at 1.30 on the Saturday, England v.Wales at 4pm, and Scotland v. France on the Sunday at 3pm.
The Bar will be open until 11.30pm and entertainment will be provided through the night with a host of DVDs showing films as well as plenty of bacon sandwiches for breakfast!!
What we need now is for everyone to drum up their own sponsorship and sign up for the allotted time-slots on the charts that are to be displayed in the clubhouse....... or to contact the organiser in chief Tim Donell or his lieutenants Steve Brown, Dee Stone and/or Mat Norton.

Press Release - January 2012

Leading members of Fordingbridge Rugby Club have launched two major endurance fund-raising events.

The first is aimed at setting what might well become a Guinness World record for a non-stop run over the weekend of Feb24-26, and the second is the O’Connell Challenge, a near 1000-mile cycle ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats from May 13-20.

The February event will take place in the clubhouse at The Rec with the target the longest distance ever run in 48 hours. Two running machines will be available and the action will be non-stop starting on the Friday evening at 8pm and running (quite literally!) through to 8pm on the Sunday evening.
All club members are being invited to take part in slots of 15 minutes, with each runner raising their own sponsorship and proceeds being split 50/50 between the Macmillan Cancer Trust and the Tony O’Connell Founders Fund.
Entertainment is planned throughout the 48 hours with three Six Nations matches – Ireland v. Italy at 1.30 on the Saturday, England v.Wales at 4pm, and Scotland v. France on the Sunday at 3pm – on the big screen in the clubhouse and a host of films being shown on DVD.
Organiser in chief is the former club captain, Tim Donell, and those club members and supporters wishing to take part can reach Tim via e-mail on timdonell@hotmail.com or on 07899 955415.
