FHP frustrated as they're performance deserved a better outcome. For them.....

Forest Hill gave a good account of themselves against leaders Bearsted, infact, this match, wasn't too dissimilar to the encounter at their ground earlier in the season.

Both teams had a fair amount of possession of the ball & were evenly balanced in that context, many phases during the game, the hosts were in control which led to the majority of good chances falling for them.
FHP created a few opportunities quite early on... But failed to capitalise.

Early in the first half, the Bearstead forward latched onto a through ball and unleashed a fine strike... but a great save by the home keeper, stopped what looked to be a clear goal... Unfortunately a rash challenge in the box from the defender resulted in a penalty for the visitors .. the spot kick was dispatched well to give Bearsted the lead.

0-1

In open play the teams were still evenly matched, five minutes after going behind FHP went on the attack, one of the moves saw the hosts forward upended in the penalty box, again, another awarded penalty... On this occasion Forest Hill missed their opportunity to equalise and failed to score from the spot.

0-1

The second period was still in the balance, both teams looking to score at any given opportunity. The visitors keeper was the busiest of the two... but like many games this season Forest Hill were guilty of wasting a lot of good goal scoring opportunities.

The game became a bit 'stop start' at times as the referee felt the need to manage the game between two passionate teams.

The visitors didn't generally create many clear chances, shots from distance were comfortable for the FHP keeper who wasn't really troubled throughout the game.

However, midway through the second half, against the run of play, a defensive error was pounced upon by the Bearsted forward as his eventual cross was deflected into the FHP net by the defender.

0-2

With twenty minutes remaining, and a couple of substitutions that made an immediate impact, it was Forest HIll that continued to press and created further opportunities to score, but with a combination of poor finishing and good defending, those chances were missed.

All in all the match was played in good spirit by two competitive teams, the actual result could have been different had Forest Hill buried their gilt-edged chances....as did Bearsted, who took their chance and capitalised from an error...... Fine margins .... but that's why they're 'up there' and we're mid table....

Next match for a Forest Hill....
