Derby cup tie ends...Peckham Town 0 -3 Forest Hill Park....

FHP had to play well against the confident - eight wins on the spin - Peckham Town to progress to the next stage of the competition. It was surely a good tough contest against title contenders of the Kent County Premier Division known as the 'Menace'

The playing surface at Dulwich was in excellent condition! A perfect stage for the two teams who appreciate 'getting the ball down' to play .. credit to the hard working groundsman.

Even though FHP play a division higher, as anticipated, there was no real difference between the sides standards of play, both teams passed the ball very well, all players comfortable in possession of the ball, created a few goal scoring opportunities ... a great spectacle for all onlookers.

FHP opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a Liam Wright finish, as his shot on goal took a slight deflection before it nestled in the back of the net, beyond the brave Peckham goalkeeper.

0-1

The hosts expectedly pressed for the equaliser, as they enjoyed a period of good possession but found FHPs defensive unit equal to their efforts in the final third. The visitors keeper had to pull off a few fine saves to keep the menace at bay.

HT 0-1

The early stages of second period proved to be a balanced affair. Again end to end drama, entertaining football, inspite of the blustery windy conditions, Peckham squandered a couple of chances and also couldn't find a way past the FHP defence.

Midway through the half FHP were awarded a free kick 25yds out from Peckhams goal. Liam Wright stepped up to score his second goal of the match with a well executed free kick.

0-2

This deflated the hosts, but they still showed an abundannce of character & spirit to get back into the match, with some excellent football at times, but again FHPs rear guard were resolutely solid throughout.

In the latter stages Forest Hill substitute Adam Toubal, sealed the cup tie, as he received a great through ball from Ashley Robinson to calmly place his shot beyond the oncoming keeper into the corner of the goal.

0-3

That was that in terms of goals scored, but Peckham are a side (as always) that have some great technical players & certainly would hold their own at Step 6 where they deserve to be.
