FHP undone at the end by Halstead

Before KO it was recommended by the league to 'respect the player....respect the game' in the name of Luke Williams - manager of fellow league members, East Kent College FC who sadly passed away recently.

In terms of the scheduled match, both teams showed high levels of commitment for the entire game.
In the early stages it was end to end stuff. FHP managed to test the away sides keeper with a few fierce goal bound shots, but he was equal to those efforts. One chance created, what looked liked a clear goal, as the ball appeared to have been bundled over the line, only for the referee to state 'no goal' as he felt the whole ball hadn't crossed the line. Halstead themselves had a few chances, only to be denied by a combination of solid Goal keeping and resolute defending. In the balance the match appeared to be evenly matched.

HT 0-0

both teams maintained their high energy levels and competed well all over the pitch. FHP created more goal scoring opportunities in the first twenty minute period of the second half, unfortunately it wasn't their day, chances came and went on a number of occasions.

Against the run of play, Halstead gained a free kick twenty five yards out, claims for offside were heard as the away player reacted and scored.

1-0

Shortly after FHP pressed and probed, from an attacking corner, with bodies coming together, the referee awarded FHP a penalty. Bizarrely enough - after two minute of deliberation - he changed his mind and awarded a free kick to Halstead instead.

The reversal of the controversial decision appeared to rile FHP, minutes after a clear foul on Jem in the box, no penalty was awarded...it wasn't their day.

Saidou's fierce rifling shot beat the keeper, but not the crossbar. FHP continued to create chances, but the final execution seemed to elude them on each occasion.

Against the run of play, the Halstead winger gained possession high up the field, somehow got beyond FHP defence and hit a shot to settle the match.

2-0

Clearly, FHP un characteristically didn't score any of their chances today, a competitive contest overall as the match had the hall marks of a 0-0 draw, however Halstead managed to capitalise by scoring two of their chances, late in the game. A competitive contest overall and played in good spirit.
