The Staffordshire League have made radical changes for a second year running due to the success of the senior clubs entering the Birmingham League.
The Staffordshire league has now lost a total of 14 clubs to the Birmingham League. The last few years has seen staffs league clubs going up and staying up, without relegation however the league loses a side on each occasion. The warwickshire league are suffering from the opposite problem with with 2 or 3 sides coming down each year, thus swelling the league and forcing 3 or 4 team relegations in each division rather than 2
The Staffordshire league deserve great credit for their organisation and decision making under difficult circumstances
As in 2011 Division 3 has been the pivotal point for the league changes
Division 3 Champions Penkridge CC plus Lichfield CC, Penn and West Bromwich Dartmouth have earned promotion to Division 2
Four Oaks, Wednesbury and Wombourne have been placed in Division 2A. The Division also includes two old Warwickshire League sides in the form of Erdington side Highcroft and Mark Kirkham’s former club Rushall
The changes will result in a full 22 game season which concludes on September 15th, the seasons fixtures will be completed the following weekend as the club as been invited to participate in the Tri-Nations Cup Spain for the second year
