Two Wonderstrike's Sink Frampton!
It took 2 unbelievable strikes, which are unlikely to be replicated, to beat Frampton Athletic as they were narrowly beaten away to St Pancras.
The first of the 2 strikes came midway through the first half. The St Pancras attacker picked the ball up 20 yards out and ghit a half-volley which sailed into the top corner of the Frampton goal.
Frampton had their chances throughout the first half and were playing some very good football. The St Pancras keeper was certainly the busier of the 2, but Frampton also had to be aware of the counter-attack that St Pancras were keen to enforce throughout the game.
Frampton managed to get themselves back on level terms in the 80th minute, when Martyn Tozer was brought down needlessly inside the St Pancras 18 yard box and the referee had no choice but to aware the penalty. Mike Beake stepped up and coolly slotted the ball home.
As the light faded and the game looked to be petering out into a fair 1-1 draw, St Pancras got themselves a corner, which they took quickly, before Frampton could get themselves organised and St Pancras took advantage of the disarray, as the ball was initially headed clear, but a rasping strike was buried into the top corner of the Frampton net! St Pancras players celebrated as if they won the league, which goes to show how hard they were pushed by the Frampton lads, who were the better team throughout.
Frampton will go on in search of their first points of the season as they face Shaftesbury Crusade at the Stade de Beesmoor on Saturday. The performances have been good, but the results have yet to come...but they will!!!
