North Bristol and Yatton vs Frampton Cotterell
U13s end season with win
Well here we are, the last game (s) of the season and what a cracking day for it !
A double header against North Bristol and Yatton.
North Bristol 20 Frampton Cotterell 10
North Bristol kicked off and Fram attacked from the off. Matt’s jinking run breaking several tackles put him clear but he was held up a couple of metres from the line, fortunately, he was able to stay on his feet and offload to Jamie in support and he ran over for the opening score. Fram kicked off and within minutes the scores were level when the strong number 13 for NB ran through to score. Shortly after a penalty to NB resulted in another try for the home side despite the best efforts of the Gabe and Roy in the Fram defence. They would have extended their lead before half time and again it was the No 13 with the telling run but a great last ditch tackle by Nik kept him at bay. There was still time for one last attack and Mike nearly levelled things up with a typical determined charge but he was tackled a couple of metres from the try line.
There was nothing between the teams as the second half began. Both teams challenging for the ball and some great work by Finn and Olley moved Fram forward. However, it was NB who extended their lead when a kick out bounced kindly for the on-rushing winger and he was able to run through and score. The home side scored again when they won a scrum and the ball was worked smartly wide for a try in the corner. Fram had the last word though after they were awarded a penalty and Nik’s aggressive run put him in a good position before being held up, with Mike in support the ball was passed out and he was able to cross the line for the try.
Frampton Cotterell 20 Yatton 5
After a short break Fram were back in action and when they won a scrum 5 metres out the ball was shipped out to Nik who was able to force his way over the line for the opening score. Despite a lot of huffing and puffing there was no additional scoring in the first half.
There was plenty of action in the second half though and from the kick off the ball was neatly caught by Finn who found Jamie and his flick pass to Nik saw him score in the corner. It was Yatton’s turn to attack and they found themselves deep inside the Frampton half when the ball was stolen and passed wide to Matt he ran three quarters of the pitch for a well deserved try. Yatton attacked again though and when they won a scrum two metres out the attacker cut inside evading the tackles and making the score 15-5. There was still time for Frampton to add to the score and when they won a scrum of their own, Lewis found the NB guest player and he burst through to score.
In the remaining game North Bristol beat Yatton 10-5.
What a great end to the season with a win and another great battling performance. Well done boys, bring on the U14s !
