Maybe not so much a warm-up as a freezing on a bitterly cold day. There was some interruption from sleat and hail showers, but everyone soldiered on bravely.

Skipper Jock Wallace said he was delighted with the day - a good team performance and a chance for no less than eight bowlers to do their stuff. He blamed his own decision to bat first for the defeat, saying another ten runs would have made all the difference.

Freuchie's outstanding performer - by a distance - was Hanif Shazad, who took eight wickets for twelve runs in seven overs. Four of these wickets came in one over, which included a hat-trick. A performance like that, and we still lost!

This was a good game, played in good spirit by both sides. With the match delicately poised at nine visitor wickets down, the result was sealed by the Glenrothes batsman who lifted Dale Cowan over what used to be Fairfield's Wall for a fine six. Fine way to finish a fine if chilly day.
