Frickley were without the ill James Ashmore and the suspended Ollie Ryan whilst Danny South continued his trial in Ireland. This meant that with his team down on numbers Rinkcavage asked players to play who weren’t a hundred percent fit. He explained, “Ryan Mallon and Peter Knox were both carrying injuries before the game and shouldn’t really have played. Because we were short on numbers I asked them to give it a go and to their credit they did and for an hour did a good job for us. We then lost Brad Grayson in the second half and along with the sending off of Lincoln Adams it meant we were very disjointed throughout the game.” He added, “Our passing and movement was very poor and our retention of possession the worst all season but we worked hard and defended our net very well and deserved our point.”
Rinkcavage continued, “What with the problems we had and the awful conditions we played in it certainly wasn’t a game for the purist and I think the entertainment value was in the minus but we earned ourselves a good point and that was the important thing. I thought Dicko in goal was superb again, and now we have started to cut out the individual errors, we are looking reasonably solid at the back. Our application and work rate were first class but we just didn’t produce any quality going forward.”
Rinkcavage was happy with the week his team had completed though. He said, “We have taken four points off Chorley and Northwich in the last two games after having won at Matlock in the game before that. We are 3 unbeaten and have conceded just one goal in those 3 games so we are on a nice little run and we want to keep it going.”
