Gavin Allott's 54th minute goal was enough to see off Matlock Town and earn the Blues their first Evo-Stik League win of the season.
With Matty Young injured and Jack Wakefield unavailable Karl Rose moved Macaulay Parkinson into midfield and brought in Aaron Joseph alongside him.
After an evenly matched first half of few chances the game opened up after Allott's goal and the Blues could count themselves unlucky not to add to the scoreline.
