Frickley again controlled much of the first half possession passing quickly with confidence but lacked the sharpness and crucial pass in the final third to break down a strong committed Rossington team and went in at half time unable to take a deserved lead.
The second half started with Rossington pressing with a long ball tactic to try and apply pressure but the Frickley team as a whole defended with composure and were well marshalled by Steeples and Man of the Match Matt Blakey
who had another impressive game at centre back.
Frickley slowly regained control of the game and continued to try and pass their way through the back line whilst introducing fresh legs with Terry McCombe
, Ben Severn
and Jordan Good replacing Liam Sanger, Sam Hawley and Nenad Smiljanic
who all worked tirelessly for the team up until that point and with the game entering the final third another good passing move started by Souter nearly resulted in the opening goal with in a low skidding 20yrd drive from Jack Portman
hitting the post.
Frickley started to build more pressure on the Rossington defence and the deadlock was eventually broken on 75 minutes when Steeples stepped out from central defence to carry the ball down the right flank beating the fullback and delivering an inch perfect pass for Semley to score from close range.
The game then was settled five minutes later when Frickley doubled their lead with another good passing move down the right with Nick Guest
, Ben Severn
and Jordan Good combining to feed Semley on the right flank who beat the fullback and crossed for Jack Portman
to finish lifting the ball high over the keeper into the net.
Rossington tried to respond as throughout with a succession of long balls and throw ins into the box, but the Frickley midfield and backline held firm defensively and in truth were rarely troubled all game.
Frickley in the next round have been drawn to play against Liversedge away on Monday 21st November
