Frickley Athletic 0-1 Ashton United
Failure to find the net once again proved to be Frickley's undoing and left them empty-handed against an Ashton side who won courtesy of Sam Madeley.
James Ashmore picked out Walsh in the fourth minute, only for him to drag a 20 yard drive wide, and Jack Watts reacted quickly to intercept a back pass two minutes later but his shot was palmed to safety by United keeper Terry Smith.
Another shot from Watts was diverted off the line by Chris Rimmer in the 32nd minute and the corner kick was only half cleared, but Ashmore's cross was headed over by Lincoln Adams.
Adam Billard had to go full stretch to turn a 25 yard free-kick by Peter Wright around the near post in the 36th minute, play switching to the other end where Alex Callery picked out Walsh and his effort was well held by Smith.
Ashley Longstaff replaced Watts in the 59th minute, and the Blues tried to raise the tempo, Walsh knocking a ball inside to Ashmore who extended Smith with a 25 yard drive two minutes later.
A free-kick from Stuart Ludlam dropped to Longstaff in the 62nd minute, but his shot on the turn lacked power, while Callery burst down the right and cut inside four minutes later, only to pull his low shot off target.
Callery whipped in a free-kick from the right in the 71st minujte which Smith could only palm down, but the ball was hastily cleared by Alex Frost.
The deadlock was broken in the 79th minute, Madeley getting down the right and, while Billard parried his first effort, he followed up to ram in the rebound.
Leon Henry rode three tackles in the 81st minute before finding Longstaff, but Smith again smothered his shot, and while Ben Leonard came on, the Blues never looked like getting on terms.
