Frickley 4 Carlton 0
WE'RE IN THE PLAY OFFS!!!
As I left the ground to the whinnying bray of the donkey in the adjacent field which had just taken the full force of Jacob Hazels penalty kick, we had just secured a place in the play offs & the chase for 2nd place for still very much on!
Jameel took a well earned breather & took a place on the bench, Cammy Hough came into the starting 11 & Richie Patts wore the armband.
The Blues were on the front foot straight away - in the 2nd minute a Duggie cross was cleared out to Sam Liversidge but his shot went over. Then a Benny Algar corner was met by the Burns Unit who actually got too much head on it & his effort went over. Good interplay by Duggie & Algar set up the former with a good chance but he pulled his shot wide. Long ball out from Tyler Walton to Haze who frees Duggie but his shot hits the bar.
Then Carlton had 2 very good chances to score - they obliged with neither - & this seemed to be the siren call for Frickley to shift into another gear. On 41 minutes Ben Algar flighted a corner in which eventually fell to Tyler who powered it home - have a look at his reaction in Onion Bags photo, he liked it!
Frickley had a great chance for 2 nil when a poor clearance by the keeper fell to Haze who sped to the box, turned his defenders but put his shot in the car park.
HALF TIME - FRICKLEY 1 CARLTON 0
5 minutes into the 2nd half & the game was pretty much over as a competition. Jacob broke magnificently & his rasping drive hit the crossbar & bounced down leaving Duggie with the task of a nice cushion header into the onion bag (not you Jerry) for 2 nil.
& 5 minutes after that it was 3 nil - Richie Patts with a lovely ball to release Tyler who burned his defender & rolled the ball to Haze for a tap in (by his standards). Jacobs 45th goal of the season!!
That was Tylers work done for the evening as he picked up a knock & was replaced by George Milner.
Carlton became more & more frustrated & the red mist descended - twice - as 1 player saw a straight red (& walked off like a 90 year old carrying his dead wife - courtesy of Ken!) & another got 2 yellows. Sam Liversidge made way for Jameel & the Masterblaster made his mark later in the game.
Ben Algar had been on the receiving end of a few naughty ones & was replaced by Ishy D.
The ball ping ponged around in the box, Frickley had about 5 swipes at it & then Jameel decided that enough was enough & smashed it home for 4-0. That was our 105th league goal this season, which is a club record - some team!
Haze burns the defence & is chopped down in the box for an easy penalty award - Jacob gets up to take the penalty but sadly it landed in the Asda car park
FULL TIME - FRICKLEY 4 CARLTON 0
The Blues had a massively emphatic victory without really having to get out of 2nd gear. I feel sorry for the likes of Carlton who have got to play 8 games in 13 days - is that fair on lads who have to work to earn a living? Also is it fair on their fans?? Big points for the league to look at in the future
WEBMASTER MOTM - solid performances throughout. Tyler would have won the Glitterball had he played the full 90, special mention to Sam Liversidge, Ben A & Richie Patts, who gave a quality skippers performance. Carlton couldn't cope with Haze. However the Glitterball goes to Danny Burns - massive shift by him & ensured that Jake Turner went home with a clean shirt
Next up Gresley away on Saturday - let's get there in numbers & BRING THE NOISE
