Nantwich Town 3-2 Frickley Athletic
Having battled back to get on terms, Frickley had their hopes sunk by a late spot kick and ended with ten men at Nantwich.
Forced to reshuffle the defence, the Blues fell behind in the fifth minute when an angled 25 yard drive from the right by Harry Clayton looped into the opposite corner of the net.
The response was immediate, Jason Yates whipping over a free-kick for Jamie Wootton to head in an equaliser a minute later.
Gavin Allott picked up a loose ball in the 13th minute, sidestepped a defender, but fired straight at goalkeeper Jonathan Brain from the edge of the penalty area, and a low free-kick from Yates zipped across the face of goal three minute later.
The visiting cover failed to deal with a corner kick in the 26th minute, and Charlie Raglan found the net at the far post to restore Town's lead, and Jamie Green had to push an angled 25 yards free-kick by PJ Hudson off the line a minute later.
The two teams frequently cancelled each other out after the interval, with Chris Wood and Chris Howarth replacing Luke Hinsley and Jamie Wootton for the Blues, while Nantwich sub Kyle Wilson made an impact, having an angled drive diverted by Green in the 73rd minute, while he rattled the bar four minutes later, Harry Clayton heading in the rebound, but was ruled off-side.
Allott beat several challenges in a mazy run in the 80th minute before lifting his close range shot from a narrow angle against the bar.
A cross from the right produced a strong header which was blocked on the home line in the 81st minute as Frickley increased the tempo, while Wood got into the penalty area a minute later and found Danny Walsh, whose first time shot was saved.
Reward came in the 83rd minute, Jake Picton intercepting a back header from a Town defender before lifting the ball over Brain into the net.
Joy was replaced by despair two minutes later, Patrece Liburd brnging down Clayton to earn a second yellow card and his dismissal before Joe Guest converted the spot kick to give Nantwich a fortunate success.
