Sheerwater 4 Frimley Green 3
20 Minute horror show gifts Sheers 3 points
After last weeks postponed fixture it was nice to wake up to a non frosty morning and a day of football ahead.
Frimley and Sheers took part in a scrappy first half, with neither side being able to break down either defence and no real shots to speak of within the first 30 minutes.
Sheerwater however took the lead when a ball over the top resulted in a mixup between defender and keeper and Sheerwater were able to take the lead with a lofted effort. 0-1 Sheerwater.
Frimley began to press Sheerwater back and were rewarded with an equaliser, a freekick sent in by Sam Taylor was headed in off the post by Ben Dearlove. 1-1
Frimley then made it 2 when Scott Sanders, who came on as an early sub for the injured James Robertson, picked the ball up on halfway, ran through a couple of sheerwater players and slotted home. At the break it was 2-1 Frimley.
Second half and Frimley made it 3, Sanders had found himself against the byline, he cleverly tricked his way into the area and calmly slotted home for his second, 3-1 game over. Perhaps not.
Frimley made some required substitutions due to injuries to Drew Matthews and Luke Taylor and immediately the changes effected the shape and tempo of the team. Sheerwater by bringing on the experienced Odgie Davies, rightly took the bull by the horn and got at the Frimley Backline and in quick succession is was 3-2, 3-3 and in the final moments 4-3 to Sheerwater. Odgie always has a hand in giving Sheers an extra boost, and today was no different.
A game which at 70 minutes, you'd say Frimley Deserved, at 85 Minutes a draw was fair, but the tenacity of Sheerwater to carry on and punish Frimley for what can only be described as a truly awful 20 minutes. The team for the final 20, wasn't that of the previous 70 and it was all to easy to see, so it wasn't a surprise to see the 4th goal go in and 3 points to Sheerwater.
A tough defeat to take only in the matter it came, Sheerwater are always a difficult side to play but when 3-1 up, you'd hope by 90 minutes, the 3 points were coming home.
We now look onto next Saturday where we host Worcester Park at The Rec 3pm kickoff. 90 Minutes of todays 70 minutes and we could be onto a winner, anything like the final 20 minutes, I'll be getting ice out of the freezer to pop on the pitch.
