FC Deportivo Galicia 0 Frimley Green 6
6 Goals, a Clean sheet and a Meps and Bone masterclass
Following last weeks impressive 3-1 home Victory against AC London, Frimley headed to Deportivo in good spirits. Sam Hamer still missing due to suspension, there was only 1 change to the lineup with Luke Taylor coming in in place of Mark Primett.
I would love to tell you about the opening 16 minutes, after all it was 0-3 Frimley Green, but i was late, so i can't!. But I can tell you Bone had scored 2 and Aaron McCallam had scored the 3 goals.
I had turned up just in time to see Bone score his third of the game on the 35th Minute, a great strike to the bottom right hand corner.
HT 0-4 Frimley Green
Even with missing the opening 15 minutes, I could see today's Frimley were up for the game and wave after wave of attacks followed upon my arrival. Meps, who never misses a header, created opportunities left right and centre with cleaver flicks into dangerous areas, Bone and Meps seem to be growing a very promising partnership with Eddie McKinlay and Aaron McCallum providing additional support behind with clever controls and eyes for defence splitting passes.
Luke Taylor on the right had a good few chances of his own, but he just couldn't keep his shots down, but on another day could have had 3 himself.
There was one moment of strange officiating, Meps had been fouled on the edge of the box, however didn't go down and found himself 1 on 1 in the box with an easy option of either scoring or passing to 2 free players to his left, but just has he went to make that decision, the ref blew for the foul and brought the ball back to the edge of the box for a freekick to us.
Second half, continued as the first, Frimley popping the ball about with high tempo and purpose, Deportivo created a few half chances, but Stu Norman and the Frimley backline stood up to the task and frustrated the home side with a professional defensive performance.
Bone has grown in confidence over the past 8 weeks and today showed how much he is enjoying his football and again B&M combined for Dans 4th goal of the game, a defensive clearence by Deportivo ended up about 90 ft in the air, Meps stopping the ball dead and setting up Bone to slot home.
The 6th goal came following another wave of Frimley efforts, this time after a few deflections in the box, Dearlove was at hand to convert his chance.
Frimley had more chances to score but some great saves kept the score at 0-6 Frimley Green.
So another 4 goals for the clubs top scorer Dan Bone after another superb effort, a cleansheet for Norman and 3 points and a game which the managers will be absolutely delighted with.
A powerful performance which moved Frimley up 1 place , moving above Eversley & California, who back in October were 16 points ahead of us,which shows how well the managers and players have done to turn our season around after a difficult opening month.
We are now just 2 points from 6th and only 9 behind 2nd place Sheerwater.
