Frimley Green 4 Badshot Lea 1
Boney & The Beast
After Tuesdays defeat it was important we came out and showed why the club has been high in spirits throughout the season and we certainly did that.
Chris Harris made his debut in goal, the backline welcomed back Mark Primett at RB, Jim Ward and Matt Kellet-Smith in the middle with Abu Rayhan at left back. The midfield trio of Zac Horkan, Sam Connelly and Sammy Hamer supporting Dan Bone, George Bowerman and Eddie Mckinlay up the front.
The game kicked off at high tempo, the slick Wembley like playing surface, providing a great base to play football.
The opening goal came following a corner, before hand, Frimley had a few half chances, but with Matt Smith facing his own goal, he twisted his body and sent a bicycle kick into the bottom right hand corner, 1-0 Green
Frimley controlled the opening 15 minutes of play, however Badshot slowly began to get a foothold, but failing to cause any real danger in the box.
With a slick counter attack, Frimley made it 2-0, the ball being converted by the talented George Bowerman. 2-0
Badshot huffed and tried to use their size to their advance, and struggling to keep up with some of the footwork of the frimley midfield, plenty of fouls being given but no cards.
Then came the 3rd, Dan Bone stood over a freekick about 25 yards out to the left, the bottom right hand corner looked destined before he even kicked a ball, and BANG, in it went, power, direction, bottom corner. 3-0
HT came and it was 3-0 The Green, a scoreline clearly not many saw coming with shouts from the Badshot faithful of, " They're 8th not top"
Second half and we waited for the Badshot onslaught, which strangely didn't happen, in fact Bone picked the ball up just inside the Badshot half, ran through and we're all waiting for another touch, but no, sends a rocket into the top right hand corner for his 2nd of the game, 4-0
Badshot then got a consolation goal, Hawker converting a good move from the left
Badshot created a raft of chances for the following 10 minute period, but couldn't get another and found themselves down to 10 men when Dash ( Came on as sub) walked himself around a couple of players and the third pretty much wiped him out without looking for the ball, the ref didn't hesitate to get the Red card out.
Before the fulltime whistle, Badshot had a pen given in the 93rd minute, a bit harsh we feel as the ball Struck the hand from about 1.5 yards, but we'd probably appeal if it was down the other end. The pen was missed however with the ball smacking the bar and bouncing outside the box.
Full time whistle, 4-1 Frimley Green, What a way to make up for Tuesdays result and what a way to begin a weekend
MOTM was given to 'The Beast' Jim Ward, he has been a rock at the back and again today he withstood all that was put to him. Dan Bone also deserves extra mention has he got back on the score sheet, in all comps that's 20 goals for the striker.
Next up we visit Fleet Spurs on Tuesday evening in another CCL Div 1 clash
