On 24th July 2019, Izzy and Ben will be cycling from London to Paris on a tandem to raise money for Melanoma UK and Burning Nights CRPS Support.
Izzy has been doing a fundraising event every year since she was 9 and has raised around £6000 for different charities so far. Izzy and Ben have been together for 5 years and we love to ride our bikes and raise money for charity together. This year we will be cycling from London to Paris to raise money for Melanoma UK and Burning Nights.
Ben’s granddad, John, was a very keen cyclist who unfortunately passed away from melanoma on the night of Ben’s 4th birthday. Ben now rides with Frome District Wheelers which his granddad rode with, and often competes in rides which his granddad holds the record for. Melanoma UK is a charity which offers support and advice to those with or caring for a family member with melanoma. They also raise awareness of how we can prevent and spot symptoms of melanoma.
The other charity we are fundraising for is Burning Nights. Izzy has had problems with her back and legs for 18 months now and specialists have bounced around the idea that she has CRPS. It has only been recently that she was diagnosed with chronic pain syndrome which is slightly different but has the same symptoms as CRPS. Izzy found support and advice from Burning Nights during a time where there was no confirmed diagnosis and a lot of uncertainty. Through the charity, she was able to connect with people who also have chronic pain who gave her treatment advice and support.
We will be leaving London on Wednesday 24th July 2019 and arriving in Paris on Saturday 27th July 2019. The ride will take 4 days and will take us through Calais, Arras and Beauvais. We will then watch the Tour de France finish in Paris on the Sunday after we arrive. We will be using the facebook page to post updates and inform you of other events we are holding in the build up to the big event.
If you can donate anything at all we’d be so grateful:
