Local Derby sees Fullers stand tall Fullerians 2nd XV 35 Harrow 2nd XV 5

Fullers had to work hard to get over an OMT who have struggled in recent times and come away with a bonus point win.

In the early exchanges it was the home side who edged ahead with a good catch and drive game from the line out to take the honours. The conversion was missed.

That was that for the rest of the half as Fullers dominated the rest. Good pressure from the Fullers pack saw No8 Simon Lye in space and produced a lovely side step to crash over the line. Dan Evans added the extras.

Shortly after some good recycling and phase play by Fullers saw fly half Myles Toon use his weight and strength to crash over with three defenders in tow. Evans once again converted.

OMT continued to infringe at the breakdown and were lucky to have only one in the sinbin but the subsequent awarded penalties were kicked for the corner but Fullers did not execute as they would normally from the line out. However, they did extend their lead before the break with a Dan Evans penalty.

The second half continued as the first with the breakdown being a lottery and neither team able to gather momentum. Fullers superior fitness did start to show in the last 20 minutes as wing Rory Gibson began to shine and make headway into the OMT defence. It was his break that lead to another Simon Lye try as the backs linked well with the forwards for the No8 to score his second. Evans converted again.

OMT continued to infringe at the scrum and breakdown and Fullers pulled ahead with another Dan Evans penalty.

The fourth try and important bonus point came as second row Sam Perry crashed over from short range after fly half Toon made a half break for Perry to be on hand to score.

“It was a stop start performance and OMTS were very much up for the game in the early stages. We dug out the win and kept our composure to secure the bonus point win which was great. Other results have gone our way this week and we have extended our lead at the top of the table by 4 points. We have players coming back making selection very difficult for our next game on the 7th November.” commented Fullerians head coach Rich Hoskins.

Team. Barson, Drew (Mann 60), Trybus, Boyd, Perry, Harvey, Redler (McCabe 50), Lye, Cummins (Barrett 15), Toon, Gibson, Gooding, Mann, Williams, Evans.

Man of the Match: Liam Mann

The Fullerians Second team continued in their winning ways with a hard fought 35-5 win over Harrow 2’s.
The Harrow pack were dogged and experienced which gave our forwards more of a challenge than they’ve had in recent weeks.
The first 20 minutes was particularly competitive but once Fullers got their first try they were in total control throughout.
The backs were marshalled by Matt Lloyd who kicked well gaining valuable yards enabling us to keep the pressure on Harrow.
Fullers stuck to their game plan and a number of tries were scored through strong running and excellent team work
The Fullers defence was again outstanding and soaked up an extended period of Harrow pressure in the first half but our line was not breached.
Unfortunately Harrow did score in the second half which was the first try the 2’s have conceded in five league games.
The Fullers points difference is 234 for with 8 against in the league and they remain at the top of the table
Our hooker Callum Hurley had to go off injured mid way through the second half and once the side had been re-organised there were three 18-year olds in the front row, more than holding their own against their much more experienced ‘old school’ opponents.
