For the second week running Fullers struggled to get out a large enough squad to compete, in fact this week we struggled to get out 15 players with last minute drop outs meaning that we had to borrow 3 players from the large Ruislip squad !!
However, Fullers still managed to compete against a large Ruislip Vets team who were looking for revenge after suffering defeats in their previous games against Fullers, a competitive first half saw Ruislip go into a 14 - 0 lead before Fullers pegged them back with a score from John Miles converted by Foxy, further pressure by Fullers led to another penalty converted by Foxy and the the end of the first half with Fullers trailing 14 - 10. Unfortunately, Gary Peacock our hooker had to leave the field, with what he found out later was a heart attack, he has had a stent fitted and should be out of hospital in a couple of days. We wish Gary well and he says he should be back playing by the end of the season !!!!
With the slope against us in the second half and regular replacements from the Ruislip bench it was very much a defensive effort. With Fullers being pinned back in their own half, however, Fullers were running out of numbers further injuries to Jon Stringer and Clyve Hancock led to Ruislip making good use of the stretched defence to score three further tries in the second half to run out 35 - 10 winners. However, we will have a return match against Ruislip at home on the 07th January 2012
Thanks to Gary Peacock, Spencer Craze, Steve Hunt, Jonny Miles, Tom McCarthy, Bill Calcraft, Clyve Hancock, simon fox, Mark Naylor-Vane, Todd Haxton, Jon Stringer and various players from Hayes and Ruislip
