Chelmsford 18 FULLERIANS 1st XV 52
Good all round display produces an eight try bonanza to keep Massive March on track
Fullerians went to Chelmsford with confidence after last week’s display. They started down the slope and immediately put their hosts on the back foot. Some simple picking and driving from the forwards saw second row Liam Boyd crash over from short range within the first 5 minutes.
Chelmsford responded with a penalty as Fullers were offside at the ruck. However, the visitors went straight back and some lovely crisp handling down the left wing full back Dan Evans was on hand to score under the posts. He converted his own try.
Moment’s later hooker Drew Horne was also on the score sheet as he found himself in space after a lovely pass by fly half Luke Jacobs.
The bonus point was next on Fullers mind and it wasn’t long before centre Tala Peleto crashed over in the mid field after some good interplay between forwards and backs.
Chelmsford fell off the tackles and spaces began to appear and scrum half Will Voke saw the gap and went over under the posts. Evans once again converted for a 6-33 half time score.
In the second half Fullers started the brighter again even though they had one in the sinbin. Using their pace they spread the covering defence with some slick handling and a gap appeared for Connor Head to score.
Chelmsford also scored twice in short succession with the numerical advantage. However, No8 Simon Lye also got on the score sheet as the fitter Fullers team kept the ball alive by offloading in the tackle which was a pleasure to watch.
The day was rounded off for Fullers by centre Charlie Dollard who crashed over after once again a lovely timed pass by Jacobs. Evans converted for his own tally of 17 points.
“We scored some lovely tries today and used the ball well. We could have scored more if our ball retention had been better but I will take a bonus point win away from home. Well done guys.” commented Fullerians head coach Rich Hoskins.
