FULLERIANS 1st XV 37 Diss 32
Another bonus point win sees Fullers climb to sixth in the league
Fullerians started the brighter and immediately put their visitors on the back foot. Some good lineout driving and interplay saw flanker Dom Toon crash over from short range. Dan Evans converted for an early 7 point lead.
Diss came back into the game and earned a couple of penalties converted brilliantly. They even took the lead as Fullers lost shape and allowed their visitors to score.
Fullers then had a spell of dominance and scored through centre Liam Mann but for some reason let Diss off the hook time and time again as they pushed for further scores.
Fullers continued to dominate early in the second half and started to break away when wing Tom Fawssett took the ball in his own 22 and ran the length of the field evading all attempts to stop him to score a great solo try. Moments later Fullers could have gone further ahead but the three on one was not taken and the chance went missing.
Diss did not lie down and came into the game with another couple of tries and well taken penalties to keep the game alive. Fullers did score their fourth try through Captain George Harvey who found himself in space and outpaced the defence and ran in 30m to score. Evans once again converted. He added two more penalties to extend Fullers lead.
Diss did convert another penalty but the day was finished off by Fullers when second row Craig South crashed over for the fifth and decisive try of the match. Evans once again converted.
“We could have been more clinical in the first half and put the game out of sight by half time but we let Diss off the hook time and time again and allowed them back in the game. However, we have got 15 points from the last 3 games which is great.” commented Fullerians head coach Rich Hoskins.
