FULLERS VETS 24 ESHER EXPENDABLES 31
A great 1st halp performance however Fullers run out of steam in the second half.
We lost on Saturday 24 - 31 against Esher Expendables, this was definitely a game of two halfs, with a fantastic performance by the Fullers team to lead 24 - 0 at half time with a hat trick of tries from Sam Tinsley as well as adding two conversions plus a try from Sam Khanna, Fullers battled for everything in the first half and fed off the mistakes that they forced on Esher, with turn over ball being moved swiftly away from contact and the ball being put behind the Esher defence for the backs to run onto.
Unfortunately, Esher changed their tactics at half time and used their big forwards to drive in close to the ruck and maul to tie in the Fullers back row, this gave more space to the fly half who was able to pin Fullers back in their own 22, with the scrum under pressure it was increasingly difficult to win ball and clear the lines. Also a couple of injuries started to stretch Fullers resources with the only replacements both being hookers. As the game wore on the physical power of Esher led to gaps being made in the defence and unfortunately the Fullers team ran out of gas. A great performance against the current Surry Vets champions.
