Fylde Ladies Seconds’ 6 game winning streak came to a halt on Saturday as a well organised and determined Lancaster&Morecambe side held them to a 1-1 draw.
A tense game produced 2 green cards for Fylde and few chances at either end. Fylde perhaps unlucky to concede but failed to be clinical in front of goal when presented with an opportunity.
Fylde started well but L&M took the lead after the ball hit the goal post and fortunately fell kindly for an attacker. Rachel McCrae scored a tap-in to equalise later in the first half after a flowing Fylde move but neither team were able to add to the scoreline in the second half.
An injury to Becky Cairns in the first half ensured that the club’s early Saturday morning first aid course came in handy....hockey balls and cheekbones never combining to make a good finish for a night out!
The result means it’s all square at the top of the league with two games to play.
Longridge HC provide the opposition for both matches. With a superior goal difference, promotion remains a realistic possibility.
Come on Fylde!
