Partly in response to a growing injury list, six players have recently signed forms for the first team, four of whom make the step up from our Development Team.
Two make a return after appearing last season - midfielders Raul Fletcher and Lee Coulthard. Both helped out the first team at times last season, Raul making six appearances and Lee two. Previous to that, Raul has played with Manchester United's pre-academy, the FC Halifax Town Centre of Excellence and Guiseley AFC's Youth side. Meanwhile Lee has featured with Leeds United Academy and FC Halifax Town's first team.
Fellow signing Joe Colley made a promising debut against Athersley the other week which earned him further appearances, including at Bridlington last Saturday in which he supplied teammate Albert Ibrahimi for his late winning goal. The seventeen year-old central midfielder is a member of York City's West Yorkshire Development Centre. Also of York City's WYDC is 18-year old central defender Elliott Cuttle who is the last of the four to impress manager Rob Hunter.
Attacking midfield player Mark Ferguson has joined The Miners from Whitkirk Wanderers. The 23-year old appeared in a couple of pre-season friendly matches and made his competitive debut last Wednesday at Eccleshill. Also making his debut was midfielder Sean Keyes. The Liverpool-based 20-year old has joined us from Evo-Stik League Clitheroe FC, and spent last season with Vauxhall Motors.
Leaving the club is midfielder Danny Middleton. Danny featured in a number of pre-season matches and in the opening day defeat at Bridlington. All the best for the future Danny.
