Former York City WYDC youngster makes Leeds United debut

Ryan Edmondson replaces Roofe in Elland Road curtain closer

Former York City West Yorkshire Development Centre player Ryan Edmondson made his Leeds United first team debut in the 2-0 win over QPR yesterday.

Paul Heckingbottom brought the youngster (still a few weeks shy of his 17th birthday) onto the field in place of Kemar Roofe in the 73rd minute and if it wasn't for a deflection, he would have been celebrating with a debut goal.

Edmondson spend 2-3 years with the York City WYDC until he was 14 and coach Nick Fletcher was rightly very proud when he entered the fray at Elland road in Leeds' final game of the season.

Nicks' WYDC run the the Garforth Town youth team since joining forces with the Miners two seasons ago.
