Beavers bite back...

Garforth supporters were in a confident mood going into this game. Despite being underdogs by way of the divisional gap, the Miners had started the season fairly well in contrast to their visitors struggles in the NPL.

Curtly Martin-Wyatt put Garforth into the drivers seat as early as the eight minute when he glanced in a wind assisted free kick from Jay Davis.

Neither team coped well with the blustery conditions, but Town should have capitalised with the wind at their backs. They almost did just before half time when Luke Mangham was rightly judged a fraction offside after he beat Railway keeper Karl Dean to prod the ball home.

The half ended with Garforth players remonstrating after referee Mark Dwyer blew for the break while they were carving out an attack in the railway box.

The second half was punctuated with a number of bookings on both sides, some questionable to both sets of fans.
Tawanda Rupere got his marching orders for two such harsh cautions.

With fifteen minutes remaining on the clock, Railway finally got a head of steam. Nathan Cartman pulled the teams level and then Adam Baker rose to the occasion, smashing home the winner and ending Garforths' dreams of Wembley for another year.
