The achievements of our Development Team were recognised at York City's West Yorkshire Development Centre awards evening at the Holiday Inn, Garforth last Saturday.
Defender Fabian Evans (pictured) picked up the Manager's Player of the Season award. The ex-Leeds United Academy player's organisational skills in his role as sweeper have been invaluable to the team, to such an extent that the team plays better with him in it than without.
The Players’ Player of the Year award went to captain Lee Coulthard. It was another fantastic season for the ex-Halifax Town 1st teamer who has led by example with his consistent go-forward approach.
Elliott Cuttle won the Young Player of the Year award for the 2nd year running.
A fine effort from the York City WYDC product who produced a number of outstanding displays at left centre-half this season.
Midfielder Raul Fletcher collected the goal of the season award for a brilliant strike in the game at Tadcaster Albion (White) in November. The ex-Guiseley Youth Team player disposed the Albion player well in his own half, travelled with the ball and then beat the keeper from 45 yards! Goals from this range are clearly not confined to the first team.....
Whilst Nick Fletcher's side finished the season 2nd from bottom, he reflected that many of the games saw his young side, containing a number of school-age players, up against Evo-Stik League opposition fielding experienced first team players, and can be very proud of their efforts.
We currently expect our partnership with York City to continue into 2018-19 and we hope bring you more news in the coming weeks. Look out for the draw for the FA Youth Cup early next month!
