Miners bring in the season with a visit to Sheerien Park (kick-off 7:45pm).

A difficult season with quite possibly the earliest start and latest finish date of any in the club's history comes to an end this evening when we take on 17th place Athersley in this re-arranged fixture. Injuries to key players and the recent winless run of nine games for Rob Hunter's team put paid to any hopes of a place in top ten, but they're guaranteed at least a 13th-place finish, the highest since our relegation from the Evo-Stik League in 2013.

After victories over Worksop and Bottesford, our hosts this evening went down 2-1 at then title-chasers Mansfield on Saturday. Contrary to ourselves, Luke Potter's side have enjoyed the luxury of four full days without football and will look to use their final two games to climb a few places in the table. Town also seek to finish on a high and avenge the 4-0 defeat inflicted on us on Cedar Ridge back in October, jointly our heaviest home league defeat of the season. Something like in the last meeting at this venue would do very nicely; Lee Turner and Mitch Hamilton on target in a 2-0 win on 22nd October 2016.

The players did the club proud amid tough circumstances on Monday and Tuesday and it would be great to reward their efforts with a good away following. So join us if you can, hope to see you there. Up the Miners!
