Garforth scraped over the line in an odd game, as they struggled to contain nine-man Mossley.
Town were the better team for much of the first half, but as the visitors lost players, their performance became more spirited.
A calamitous moment gifted Garforth with the opener. A Mossley defender attemted a crossfield ball, but his pass hit Paul Walker in the midfiff. He raced into the box and managed to evade a challenge before presenting David Brown with a simple tap-in.
About thirty minutes in, Sam Hare was sent off after a stupid moment of petulance. Garforth were awarded a free-kick near the half way line, and for some reason the red mist descended on Hare, who threw the ball, hitting Brown straight in his face.
Assistant manager Paul Ogden was next to follow his player to the stands for abusive language to the linesman.
Paul Walker got the second goal in the fourty ninth minute. Milton Turner went on a surging run from his own half before exchanging passes with Brown. The Garforth skipper strode into the box before firing accross the keeper. He was unfortunate not to cap a great move with a goal as his shot bounced off the post, but Walker was gifted with an open goal.
That should have been game over, but Mossley would not lie down. Captain Matty Kay had an afternoon to remember. First he scored the goal of the game by leaving Ben Higginson stranded with a twenty five yard screamer, then later he managed to pick up two bookings and an early shower all in the space of one minute. His first was for a trip on Walker and the second for being slightly late on Ben Small.
Paul Walker could have got his second, but Mossley keeper Peter Collinge got a finger tip on the ball as Wakka tried to waltz round him. Mossley went close when Dan Egan tested Higginson from the edge of the box after good work from fellow sub Daryl Weston.
In the end Garforth got the victory, but lacked composure at times against nine men, which gave Mossley hope of snatching a draw.
Town visit Harrogate Railway on Tuesday, and although Railway have not won in their last eleven matches, local rivalry will ensure that the game will be a tough one.
