Garstang Rugby Club held their second annual all club Awards Presentation Day on Saturday at the Crofters and there was a wonderful turn out with large representation from the Mini/Juniors, Senior Women’s and Senior Men’s teams.
The Mini/Juniors fielded six teams this season and each team had an award voted for by their fellow players as well as an award voted for by the team coaches. The awards were won by the following:
Players Player of the Year Awards: William Slater, Harry Hargreaves, Ewan Huck, Cameron Brown, Elliot Dean and Lewis Williams.
Coaches Player of the Year Awards: William Slater, Harry Slater, Taylor Walmsley, Bali Vijitpong, Alex Law and Harry Beardsworth.
The winners of the recent Iron Man competition also were awarded with certificates. The winners at each age group were: Edward Pearson, Jake Riding, William Jardine, Ben Tyson, Taylor Walmsley, Charlie Davies, Sam Thornton and Oliver Cross.
A notable mention was also given to the Under-14s Players Player of the Year, Lewis Williams, who received a call up to the Lancashire squad this season.
The Senior Women’s Team had three awards with the winners being:
Most Improved Player – Jenny Nickson
Players Player of the Year – Emma Gardner
Coaches Player of the Year – Kathrine Dawson
The Senior Men’s Team had five awards with the winners being:
Most Improved Player – Lawson Whitaker
Players Player of the Year – Stuart Dawson
Young Player of the Year - Joel Dugdale
Coaches Player of the Year – Jonny Wilson
2nd XV Player of the Year – Tom Smeaton
President Bobby Johnston also chose the President’s Award where he selects an individual person who has made an individual or outstanding contribution and the winner this year was David Miller.
