Gateshead Storm Travell To Durham Demons In Semi Final
This weekend sees Gateshead Storm U13s travell to Durham Demons for a place in the North East U13s Cup Final.
The two sides met at the beginning of the season when Storm took the spoils 24-12 but both teams will be looking to progress to the final.
Storm have a strong squad to pick from with forward Freddie Bunting making it through last weeks training game against Peterlee Pumas U14s after recovering from a broken arm. Fullback Lewis Burbidge is awaiting the go ahead from the consultant to see if he can return to action after a broken collar bone and new signing Sam Stephenson is chomping at the bit to be involved.
Storm will be without half Sam Dayson (holidays),Centre Josh Rowell (broken collar bone), back rower Matthew Purdy (unavailable), prop forward Jack Ingilis (holidays) and one of this seasons stand out players back rower Drew Davison (holidays.
Head Coach Chris Parker is looking forward to the fixture " we played Peterlee Pumas U14s last week and even though we were a little sloppy we competed with them for long periods of the game, I think this will put us in a great position going into the game against Demons. We have a few areas to look at in training on Wednesday and a few players to check on in training before the weekend. If we can apply what we do in training and keep our heads then we should go well".
Parker will be hoping Centre pairing Joe Millican-Smith and Adam Thornton can continue to show their good form of late.
