Gateshead Storm Open Age were forced to play in new surroundings at Winlaton when the weather claimed their pitch at Gateshead International Stadium but looked right at home scoring 74 points in the process.

Dan Mole was first on the scoresheet following up from his impressive hattrick away at Wallsend Eagles in the previous week when Neil Emmerson found him out wide to touchdown following a strong run from Jack Watkins. Mole then turned provider when he sent Steve Donoghue over in the corner. Storm then enjoyed a strong period of dominance with scores through Mole again, Dan Turland following a neat inside ball play to cross untouched under the posts and Neil Emmerson who showed great awareness to back up a break from lively hooker Scott Woods, whos offload as he was going to ground was nothing short of breathtaking.

Sunderland hit back when a handling error in Storm territory gifted possession to the visitors and Derek Pocklington burst over the line after a quick play the ball. Skipper Jon Irving duly adding the extras.
Storm's response was a quick one though when Woods, who was causing problems all day from Dummy half then got his just reward when he jumped out and left the defenders standing as he dotted down.
Jonny Smith wrapped the first half up when a neat chip at the line from Adam Houston bounced up nicely for the hard running prop to crash over and Houston's 5th goal of the day brought things to a halt at the interval.

The second peiod started much the same way as the first with Mole crossing for his hattrick which Adam Houston converted. Jamie Diggle then powered over for one, and Luke Banham barged over from Dummy Half.
Hopes of a Sunderland fightback were on the cards when Craig Olugbode managed to reach over the top of a tackle and touch down out wide on the right and then the visitors again crossed out wide, with a numerical advantage with skipper Irving unable to convert either.

Interchanges Jack Doran and Gareth Henderson then got Storm back in the driving seat when they got their names on the score sheet with some strong running following a prologed period of Storm pressure before Jamie Diggle wrapped up the scoring with a fine solo effort from distance which Houston again converted to make it 10 from 13.
