Gateshead Storm registered an emphatic 62-12 win over Telford Raiders in the Harry Jepson Trophy Semi Final down in Wakefield.

Gateshead Storm made the two and a half hour journey down to Normanton Knights looking to book their place in next Sundays cup final.

Storm started the game strong, making good yards through front row pair Burnett and Metcalfe and hooker Reece Young directing the traffic.

Both side looked composed in defence with some big hits and solid tackling restricting the opposition in attack.

Storm looked odds on favourites to break the deadlock but a Telford break saw them cross the Gateshead White wash.

Gateshead hit straight back when Reece Young scored with a trademark run from dummy half. Houston Converted to make the scores 6-6.

Telford again took the lead with another break against the run of play. Winger Dan Moles fantastic chase back and tackle was in vain as. From the play of the ball the Raiders caught Storm off guard. Again Telford added the extras to take a 6-12 lead.

An un-converted Richard Squires try brought Storm to within 2 point of Telford before hard working prop Chris Burnett crashed over putting Gateshead ahead. Houston again converting to make it 16-12.

Gateshead then sprang into life further try's from Barron, a Metcalfe double, Woods, Scott, Turland and Banham put the game out of Telfords reach.

The biggest cheer of the day was saved for Dan Mole who expertly took a pass from his centre and rounded the Raiders defence before putting the ball down under the posts. Again Houston converted making the final score 62-12.

Gateshead Storm Head Coach was over the moon with his sides performance " we talked in the changing room before the game and we new every single player was going to have to preform well today for us to progress to the final. Each and everyone of the 17 gave their all out there and as a result we got the performance we wanted.
We've got a great set of blokes at the club at the moment a lot of us fell out of love with the game after some hard and challenging times but you could see on that field that we all have it back. The lads are close, and willing to work for each other. "

Looking to the final Parker Commented " next week we can't drop below the standard we set today, it's the minimum. I still believe we have a extra gear to use and we will need it next Sunday."
