Woolston Rovers v Gateshead Storm

Gateshead Storm Open age suffered their biggest defeat of the year on the road at Warrington yesterday.

The hosts were on fire from the start and ran riot down Storms right hand flank, posting 4 tries in the opening 10 minutes. The rest of the first half didn't get much better. When ever Storm did get their hands on the ball, they manage to produce errors to turn it back over.
The cause wasn't helped when they lost debutant Sitiveni Uluilakeba to a pulled hamstring.
Storm turned round 50 points down at the break and they started the second half brightly when Craig Banks burried over in the left hand corner and Zach Clark superbly added the conversion from the touchline.
Woolston added another 3 quick tries, but then there was a 25 minute period that was much more evenly contested. Dan Barron, David Cash and Luke Banham were stand outs for Storm, but it was James Dixon who took the Man of the Match award for his strong carries and determined defence.
A late Woolston break was valiantly chase down by Christopher Dobson, however this was to no avail as the hosts scored from the next play and added another 2 before the final whistle.
Coach Rhys Clarke will be concerned over the loss of forwards Evan Barker and Aaron Harlow-Stephenson who both retired with ankle injuries and will be doubtful for next weeks home clash with Salford City Roosters.
