Geddington T20 XI began their Northamptonshire Cricket League T20 Championship Pool 3 campaign with a 5 runs victory against Brixworth T20 XI at Geddington Cricket Club on Sunday.
Geddington batted first and made 151-7 off their 20 overs after being put into bat by Brixworth, Ben Mansell (42 off 29 balls) and Bradley Armer (33 off 30 balls) got the innings off to a good start by putting on 80 for the 1st wicket partnership for the home side, Charlie Gingell (13), Luke Cummins (12) and Ned Wilson (10*) added late runs with the bat for the hosts as they reached 151. Ashley Starmer (3-10) was the pick of the Brixworth bowlers with three wickets, George Napier (2-37) took two wickets for the visitors and there was a wicket for Hiten Patel.
In reply, Brixworth innings got off to a good start, William Thomas (65 off 53 balls) top-scored with a half-century for the visitors and Harry Penberthy (22) was also in the runs, Thomas and Penberthy put on 68 for the 1st wicket partnership, but then wickets fell at regular periods, Starmer (25* off 16 balls) finished unbeaten for the away side, but they fell 6 runs short of their victory target in a good match between the two teams. Armer (3-23) was the pick of the Geddington bowlers with three wickets, Jack Thurman (2-16) also took two wickets and there was also wicket for Wilson.
